A Passion For Tradition
“I’ve always had a passion for home baking. The traditional methods and recipes used in my traybake range were handed down to me by my grandmother and an old family friend.
Back in 1990, I realised the pace of modern living meant few people had the time or skills to bake at home, but they all loved the home baked taste. This gave birth to Border Homebake. Hadrian’s Wall, Northumberland’s famous World Heritage Site, provided the backdrop to my farm home.
Our converted farmyard dairy offered an ideal base for my first compact yet well-equipped bakery. As sales continued to grow, we needed to move to our current premises, which are based in Haltwhistle and formed part of our SALSA accreditation.
Our dedicated team of bakers have always been proud of the traybakes they lovingly produce. They will always aim to maintain the standards they have strived to create so far producing a consistent and delicious handmade product.
Many cafes and delis use our traybakes and pass them off as their own. We believe in keeping traditional baking skills alive and baking a product you would be proud to call your own".
