Taking a well-deserved break from his role at Traybakes, Scott Morley is tackling an epic 800 km (494 miles) trail. For those unfamiliar, the Pyrenean Haute Route stretches from Hendaye on the Atlantic coast to Banyuls-sur-Mer on the Mediterranean.

This trail is a favourite among experienced hikers, offering stunning scenery and challenging terrain. It traverses the main ridge between France, Spain, and Andorra. The two main routes are the GR10, which stays on the French side, and the GR11, which runs parallel but crosses into Spain. Most hikers opt for the lower routes and mountain passes along the French and Spanish borders.

The Pyrenean Haute Route is renowned for its breathtaking views, especially through the Ordesa Valley with its meadows, forests, and waterfalls. Scott has been planning this journey for years and started his hike on July 16th, 2024. He estimates it will take around six weeks to complete, aiming to finish by late August or early September.

Scott’s rucksack, which weighs approximately 11kg, is without too much food or water, as these will be available throughout the route. However, there is space for some of his favourite Traybakes, a testament to his preparation. He has been training through fell running, which he believes will help him conquer this demanding trail. His adventure began with dipping his feet in the Atlantic, and he has been heading eastward into the mountains ever since.

All of us at Traybakes wish Scott the best of luck. We know he has the determination and fitness to complete this incredible journey.

Well done, Scott!

We cannot wait to hear all about your adventure when you return.
